Storage Types

In the cloud, not all hard drives are created equal. You choose storage based on Speed, Sharing, or Scale.

đŸ’Ŋ Block (EBS)

The Hard Drive.
Fastest. Attached to ONE server at a time. The Operating System (OS) lives here. If you format it, it breaks.

Best for: Databases, Boot Drives

📂 File (EFS)

The Network Share.
Like a shared folder at the office. Many servers can read/write at the same time. Good for collaboration.

Best for: CMS Content, Shared Configs

đŸĒŖ Object (S3)

The Infinite Bucket.
Stores files as "Objects" with metadata. Accessible via HTTP URL. Infinitely scalable and very cheap.

Best for: Images, Backups, Videos
